Camelot for Children is now welcoming applications for potential Camelot children who are between the ages of 6-19 years old who have been diagnosed with terminal, chronic, or serious illnesses and/or have special needs.

Camelot strives to offer a place where children whose needs can be met by our mission and model feel accepted and supported. To ensure a quality experience and safety for all children, even with a caregiver, we cannot accept children who:

  • Are at risk of eloping
  • Exhibit abusive behavior, inappropriate language, self-injurious behavior
  • Avoid social situations
  • Cannot tolerate loud noises
  • Struggle with authority and changes in routine

Minimum Requirements for Camelot Child Participation:

  • Participants must be between 6-19 years of age, independent with bathroom abilities, and able to dress and feed themselves.
  • If a child is not independent with these tasks, they may still qualify to be a Camelot kid if they bring their own qualified caregiver. A caregiver must be capable of assisting the child with all necessary activities and should not require routine assistance from a Camelot nurse or volunteer.

We also invite siblings in need of a space to simply be kids—where they can be understood and free to experience childhood without the worry of protecting their sibling with special needs.

Each Camelot child and sibling under the age of 19 is paired with a “buddy,” a high school or college aged volunteer, to offer companionship and support.

If your child is offered an application to become a participant, a committee discretion will be used in determining whether a child will be accepted as a Camelot child. Each decision will be based on the needs of the child and if our model provides adequate support to maintain safety and enjoyment for the whole community.

Parents, grandparents, guardians, and other loved ones can find respite, a sense of normalcy, and a community that truly understands their journey.
