Volunteer Spotlight

Ever since middle school, I looked for a place that would fulfill my passion for working with those with special needs. It wasn’t until the summer between my sophomore and junior year that I stumbled upon a Camelot for Children advertisement on Instagram. Doing so has been one of the best things that has happened to me. I make so many friends and memories at Camelot, while learning how to respect and work with people who have different needs at the same time. Not only has Camelot for Children made me a better person, by helping me break out of my shell, but it has better prepared me for my future in special education as well. I’ve learned how to communicate with others who are nonverbal, how to ask someone if they need help, how to steer someone away from a situation that could have easily turn bad, and so much more.
