Volunteer Spotlight

I have been a volunteer at Camelot for the past three and a half years and I consider it one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. With no experience other than babysitting, I really did not know what to expect coming into camp. As soon as I got there I knew I made a good choice. These kids and the volunteers have changed my life completely and have made me a better person. The fulfillment of making them happy every day and helping them forget about their disabilities for a while is a unique feeling that some people go through life never experiencing. I owe any success that I have today to those kids for giving me a reality check and a total attitude adjustment. The kids at Camelot inspire me with their strength and positive attitudes and they make me strive to be better every day. Volunteering has even helped me discover my passion for working with children with disabilities and my career choice of becoming an early childhood special education teacher. Without Camelot, I would not have aspired to pursue a career in which I know I will truly enjoy going to work every day. My best memories were made at Camelot and I cannot wait to continue to make many more!
